What people think of you is absolutely NONE of your business!

A few years back, someone with a degree from Harvard University pointed out that she couldn’t understand my apparently “broken” English many times and on many occasions. She made sure to highlight that on every occasion and in public. She also pushed others to sabotage my public image as a professional and talented author because I’m not a native English speaker. Countless times.

In my defense, I have been speaking English since I was four years old and am now close to my forties.

In addition, my books have been through many editing phases, and they all follow high publication standards and guidelines. All my books are available in many reputable bookstores all over the world.

At some point, I felt like I overly trusted her just because of her degree and position.

It turned out that it was a mistake to overly trusting people because of who they claim they are and NOT because of who they truly are.

To cut to the chase, I went to the highest-ranked university in my area and took my TOEFL test.

Without any preparation, I scored 28/30 in writing and 26/30 in speaking. My lowest score was my reading score because I’m a conscientious reader, and I couldn’t finish on time, so I got 16/30.

Please, don’t judge her or harass her in any way. I just want to use this opportunity to THANK her,
because after what happened, I worked harder on myself, and I earned as many certificates as I could -in my profession-from many reputable universities just to highlight that certificates are just to prove earned knowledge. Still, they aren’t enough to build your foundation.

Yes, talents do not equate knowledge, but lacking some sort of knowledge DOES NOT nullify knowledge or skills and talents.

And I’m not worried about her destroying anyone’s self-esteem. I know for sure that, eventually, Karma will take care of it. U_U

I’m sharing this just in case you need to hear that you’re not alone. 🤷🏻‍♀️
People are just being themselves. Never let anyone dim your light. Always shine bright!🧚🏻
